I ordered a bunch of books from Amazon on Monday. Sometimes, that works out for me, and sometimes, it doesn’t, particularly when I’m ordering sight-unseen. One of the books that arrived was A Seed Is Sleepy, written by Dianna Hutts Aston, and illustrated by Sylvia Long. It’s a children’s book, but it’s also quite informative and gorgeously produced. I read it to my son when it arrived and he was enchanted by the illustrations. We had fun comparing the seeds to the full-grown plants. It definitely inspired me – I think I’ll be drawing seeds and plants, or working on my penmanship for the next few days. This book is not ready for the shelf just yet. I love when that happens! No buyer’s remorse ….
