Week One photo and the Five

It’s underway. No going back on the kitchen renovation. The photo above is from Wednesday afternoon, right after the Habitat for Humanity crew finished taking everything out. (I shopvacced the mess first.) Week One. Looking full of promise.

Second Blogiversary

Good morning. Where has this week gone? It’s Thursday already, which means an afternoon magazine run. I’ve been anticipating the new issue of Domino ever since Habitually Chic previewed the cover. (In the same post, she talks about the fun John Derian furniture party she attended. I’m just a little envious!) Update: Chicago is Domino’s [...]

D is for Demolition, Delivery, and Diana Sudyka

Here we go! Today is demolition of the current kitchen, running concurrent with delivery of new cabinets. I think both parties are arriving at 9:30 am. (It figures, right?) The new cabinets are going into the garage for a bit while we clear out the space, and relocate the refrigerator, microwave and most important, coffee [...]

Over the Weekend

Hello! Hope you had a nice holiday weekend. While I write this, our contractor is laying red rosin paper down over the kitchen floor, to be followed by masonite, in advance of  Wednesday’s demolition. We’re down to the basics in the kitchen: everything else has been packed up and carted off to the basement, or [...]

Memorial Day Five

Hello, Summer. You’re mere hours away. (If that is true, why is our heat still on?)
I was a bit nutty with my magazine purchases yesterday. I picked up the new Everyday Food (yes, no kitchen in days and I’m looking for recipes) as well as Entertainment Weekly’s Sex and the City issue (just tattoo “sucker” on [...]

Eye Candy Bonus

photo from latimes.com
I love this house, featured in today’s Chicago Tribune. Two architects, Vanessa Choy and Andrew Wong, built a modern + gorgeous farmhouse in Studio City (Los Angeles). It reminds me of the Carneros Inn, especially the pool house. Love it! You can see more photos courtesy of the Los Angeles Times. Slide show [...]

Busy busy busy

My head hurt on Wednesday from all of the ducks I’m trying to get in a row before the 28th: that would be “tear-down of the current kitchen” day (courtesy of Habitat for Humanity – we’re donating our current cabinets) as well as delivery of the new cabinets, as well as the start of no [...]

At last, a little stationery news

While I don’t have all of the “scoop” that I’d like quite yet from the stationery show, I do have a couple of finds I’d like to pass along. The first is the adorable mailbox correspondence cards from small square design. (click on through: collection/correspondence cards/mailbox) I wish we had a mailbox in our neighborhood [...]
