Construction Update Five (and Flickr, too!)

Hello from kitchen remodel land! Thursday saw electrical work, part ii, and I think we have our ducks in a row for a re-inspection on Monday morning, followed by drywall, followed by countertops …. it’s feeling closer to useability, if not actual completion.
On with the Five:

Beyond Sweet Animals Alphabet: Flora Douville

e is for escargot: photo of flora douville print from etsy
i just love that little snail!
I’ve been reading artist Flora Douville’s blog ever since Rachel at Black*Eiffel clued me in. I was immediately drawn to her watercolor animals alphabet series, admiring the perfection in color and spareness. Just yesterday, Flora announced that prints are available for purchase [...]

Mast Brothers Chocolate

I’ve been thinking about Mast Brothers Chocolate for a while now. Mostly from the sad point of view since it’s not available in Chicago, nor do they ship (yet?) Yesterday, SusyJack* reminded me of how much I want a few bars. I’d save the wrappers, of course …..

The opposite of minimalism (or perhaps, its accessory)

“juliet” necklace: photo from dejarnettenola.com

Her company, Dejarnette New Orleans has some luxe and funky (and gorgeous!) looking pieces. [...]

House Envy via Elle Decor

photo by Roger Davies for Elle Decor
The July/August issue of Elle Decor arrived over the weekend, and I’m still fixated on Frederic Fekkai and Shirin Von Wulffen’s house in Millbrook, NY. It’s gorgeous, of course, but there are also ideas I’d like to co-opt into my ongoing home decorating project. (It will never end, I [...]

Winter Wedding Style Guide (Australia) Online

photo from styleguide.com.au
Hooray! The winter issue of Wedding Style Guide is online. Sneak a peek at the book club shower/party (photo above). I think this is an incredibly smart idea for a shower. A nice mix of cookbooks, novels, and perhaps a David Sedaris (or two) would start a bride off quite nicely. But you could [...]

Weather perfection & July 4th treats

I’m starting to think I should pinch myself each morning because I cannot believe how fabulous the weather has been. Remember, I’m happiest in long sleeved tees and maybe a light cardigan. Your weather perfection may vary. Faced with yet another sunny day in the 70s on Monday, the birds were singing, and bunnies were hopping [...]
