Good morning! Daylight Savings Time has begun, and I am tired. There’s no good way to prepare: even if you go to bed “on time”, the darkness in the morning still makes you sleepy.
Chicago is slowly moving toward spring. No color yet – still brown – but the white is receding, and the green will come. On Saturday, we went into the city to run a few errands and then stopped to pick up lunch. We went to the Goddess and Grocer, this week’s featured bakery. They have the most fabulous assemblage of sandwiches. I can personally fouch fo Caesar the Day, Chicken Salad Sanger, and Finger Lickin’ Chicken. Finger Lickin’ is so good that my son wants my to recreate it at home. (I’ll try!) Goddess also has some fantastic bakery items, which qualifies it as a bakery for me …. the triple chocolate chip cookies are my favorite (and they’re as big as your head!), with the muffins running a close second. I’m so happy that they opened a second location on Delaware Place, because it’s convenient to pop in after Michigan Avenue shopping. Check out Goddess online, or visit their Gold Coast and Bucktown (the original) locations when you’re in town. Be prepared for a wait a peak times …. it gets crowded!
