Snippets from Paris: Poilâne

Thank goodness Poilâne stays open in Paris during August! I am enchanted with the elegant “Poilâne” script, and I yearn to someday have a lifestyle which incorporates a proper bakery, with bread, and truth be told, yummy cookies like punitions (read more about the story behind their name at Smitten Kitchen). Thankfully, Poilâne’s punitions have a longish shelf life (I was told three weeks) and so I’ve been able to nibble my way through my stash, extending the experience. (Nerdy me visited both the London and Paris Cherche-Midi locations, but my purchases were in Paris as it was our last stop before heading home.)

Make Deb’s recipe for the punitions – it is spot on! I bought a bread knife last time I was there and it makes me smile each time I cut into a crusty loaf! Thanks for these pictures that bring back such great memories!

So glad you got a little piece of one of the most beloved speciality bakeries in Paris! Yes, it was quite the ghost town in August but the best of the best stay open for visitors :)

Hope you’ll come back, we’d love to meet you!
