Thursday starts the weekend

My son has only a half-day of school today, and then doesn’t go back until Tuesday! (What ever happened to the five day week?) No matter. We’ll go for lunch, and then visit R for a little magazine therapy. Last month, I made a pledge to stop buying Lucky magazine, because I am too old for the clothing, and so it’s flip and toss. So what does Lucky do for November to get me? They put Keri Russell on the cover (who I think is utterly adorable), and announce it’s their “shopping awards” issue. Oh, and they feature Chicago in the shopping guide! Hey, I’m not too old for that, am I? (am I?) So, I’ll be checking it out today. Chance of purchase? 95%. Perhaps I was meant to quit starting with the December issue …..And I’ve got another photographer for you to check out, courtesy of my ever-hipper cousin. (Thanks, tt!) I love Robyn Lehr’s style. The colors really jump out at you, but in a quiet way. Check out her portfolios and see what you think.

We are having another summery day here in Chicago. Should be in the 80s for all of Columbus Day weekend, which is unheard of. My son plays in a soccer tournament each year over Columbus Day, and usually I end up freezing, sitting on the sidelines in my parka, teeth chattering. To channel fall, the picture above is of a pumpkin I picked up yesterday at my favorite little market. I saw it and had to have it.
