Labels to love (and use)

martha stewart weddings wrap-around envelope labels | simple pretty

I’ve finished my dissection of the Fall 2007 Martha Stewart Weddings. My strategy is to rip out anything worth saving, along with the corresponding source pages, and as usual, there was much to love, even if you are not getting married anytime soon. The featured weddings are so beautifully done, and gorgeously photographed, that it’s just a treat to celebrate vicariously. I would save the whole issue if I could, but you would find me buried under a stack of paper in under a year’s time. So, I rip.

My favoritest thing from the fall issue is the labels pictured above. To me, they evoke Paper + Cup, which is high praise. Simple, and elegant, and perfect for a wedding invitation, but also great on any envelope! Those of you on my Christmas card list will no doubt be seeing them this year. However, while testing out the template (downloads as an Acrobat Reader file), I cannot get the return address section to accept my entry. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Oh, I hope it is not a “mac” thing. And speaking of Paper + Cup, check out Emily’s blog about their new Communique line. Those cc:me pads (available at See Jane Work) are awesome, but I want to see all of it first. And preferably, touch it, too. So, I wait.

I can put my return address in (I have a PC), but I’m wondering if you know what size labels the template requires…

i’m not sure it’s specified. here are martha’s directions: “Run page through a sticker machine. With a bone folder, crease where indicated; cut out using a utility knife and ruler. Trim short edges with pinking shears.”

i haven’t gotten around to making the stickers yet. if you find a premade template that works, i’d love to know.

Ahhh..I guess Martha doesn’t realize that we don’t all have little people running around doing all of the annoying tasks like cutting out stickers! I was thinking that there might be an Avery label that would work, but the longest I can find is 1 inch wide by 4 inches long which may in fact work for smaller envelopes. Avery also makes full page labels (8.5×11) which you could use as well – just lay out the labels in word, print & then cut. I have a Fiskars paper cutter with the nifty interchangeable blades which would make the cutting process much easier & faster than doing one at a time Martha style… Good luck!
