My nightstand is going to crumble from the weight of the books I need to read this fall. Today, Adam Gopnik’s book,Through the Children’s Gate: A Home in New York, is out, and it follows his wonderful book Paris to the Moon. I loved that book, featuring essays about life in Paris, especially his story about French take-out food. (It was served to him at the counter on real china, by a very confused “why would you want to eat at home?” restaurant.) I’m looking forward to reading about his New York experiences, as I often wondered what a childhood in New York City would be like.
Hey Chicagoans – Gopnik will be at the Lookingglass Theatre on Sunday, October 22, speaking about the book.
