When trapped indoors, I read magazines ….

pretty little things club, january 2009 | simple pretty

It’s freezing in Chicago. I’ve been hunkered down, cleaning the house (my usual January crazy) and spending more time than usual reading magazines. Which means that I’m “wanting” things, because that is what magazines do to me. Although I’ve been giving more thought to what I bring into the house (I’m trying to focus on consumables: stuff that won’t accumulate, which means that if I keep writing letters and thank you notes, stationery is allowed!), I’m also nowhere near embracing a spending freeze.

Many years ago (I’m old), I learned that if I wanted a new outfit that I spotted in a magazine, sometimes just going to the store and trying it on was enough to convince me that I didn’t really need it. Now we’re in the age of the internet and I simply cannot travel to all of the places that tempt me with their lovely wares. Which is where this blog comes in. I’m going to post a few items each month that I like but will not be purchasing, in the hopes that simply admiring their beauty will be enough. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy them, too.

Does this make any sense?

The photo above is of my January Pretty Little Things club shipment. Perfect timing, I’d say! And consumable, too :)
