I spent most of Wednesday on a field trip to the Art Institute of Chicago with my son’s 4th grade class. Between navigating the drive (all roads under construction, of course) and making sure all students, teachers and parent volunteers were present and accounted for (another mom and I co-chaired the program) I’m just a little tired right now. Oh, and the tour? It was fabulous! We were led by AIC docents, and Peter, who was assigned to my son’s group, was the perfect guide. He had the group of 16 10-year-olds eating out of his hand within a minute.
See you tomorrow with the Five. But before I go, 1. Happy May Day! and 2. If you love Ira Glass and This American Life, tonight is the night they’re broadcasting live to a group of theatres across the country. I’m going. You can check to see if a theatre near you still has seats available.

I love the Chicago Art Museum. I think it’s one of the best in the country. What a special treat that it’s in our backyard.
