Two weeks to go, and the only decorating I’ve done so far is to put these mercury glass baubles in a glass container/vase. If we get our act together, we’ll get a tree on Saturday, but a strong case is being made for the 19th as we have holiday parties both tonight and tomorrow night. Sunday brings Santa Lucia Day, which means cinnamon rolls + orange juice and anticipating the solstice at our house. (Authentic observers can insert the eye roll here.) Abner the Elf arrives on the 15th …. tempus fugit.
Trying to envision the happiness at the end, instead of the insanity in the process. Trying to see the holiday through the eyes of a twelve-year-old, where it’s filled with joy and wonder and outrageous amounts of happiness. Trying to see the little things that are getting done each day, and being grateful for the progress.
On with the Five:
- Candy Cane Macarons
- Coffee at the Tartine Bakery. I love that card. (I do, too.)
- december 1
- moon
- Drive By Shooting
As for the weekend, if you can stand my relentless plugs for the wonderful city of Boston, may I suggest you head over to Michelle Willey’s South End shop this weekend? The Paper & Fabric trunk show features two of my favorite artists, Jill Bent and Angela Liguori, and is certain to be worth a visit. Go and report back! I’ll see you on Monday.
Happy Hanukkah!
