Paper Monkey Press: 10th Anniversary (+ fun)

paper monkey press notecards + "notes" pad | simple pretty

I’m so excited for this post, as I think it’s a great way to kick off Stationery Week at simple + pretty.

Paper Monkey Press and Design is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month. Established in the spring of 2000 in Berkeley, CA (and now working and designing in Pittsburgh, PA), I’m a big fan of designer Rori Zendek’s work. Paper Monkey Press has designs that are so simple, clean, and fun, with great colors. I consider the monkey card, pictured above, their signature piece, but I’m also still completely smitten with the elephant baby announcement below. It just makes me smile. All of Rori’s letterpress designs are printed on a Chandler and Price named Bessie, and you gotta feel the love for someone who named her press.

Here’s where the fun comes in: to mark the anniversary, Rori has offered free sets of hand-set letterpressed notecards (see photo at bottom) for five lucky readers. Here’s how the giveaway will work: visit the Paper Monkey Press website and click through the design portfolios and/or the online shop. Then, comment on this post with your favorite piece. Comments must include a valid email address, and will be accepted until Wednesday, May 18 at 11:59 pm cdt.  As always, one comment per person, please. I will draw five names from the eligible entries and will announce the winners in Friday’s Flickr post. Good luck!

I would love to have some personalized stationery for my girls. I love the custom Wood Type design – especially the lower case metal type.

I’m expecting a baby boy in July, so I’m all about birth announcements. My favorite is Lance’s Birth Announcement – so cute!

Letterpress just makes me swoon! When I went to Seoul in 2001, I bought packages upon packages of stationary.

I am totally loving the monkey heart notecards. These would make the most adorable Valentines, don’t you think?

my fave pieces so far, are the Wood Type letterpress or hand set stationery sets with envelopes…in turquoise lettering! I have adopted several projects, one of which is a Army troop of 50(rather platoon is the correct noun) in Iraq for letter writing and care packages, and desperately need more stationery… out of this and other projects…OPERATION BLESSING BRIGADE was born and would love stationery to show this. (and am open to other suggestions!)

Love, love, love the note cards with the wood-block. Anyone who names an ink color “absinthe” , can do no wrong by me.
