This card pretty much sums up my life right now. The “you have terrible teeth” part of the card to be sure. At least the illustrations cheer me up as I prepare for yet another visit to the dentist. Thanks, Fomato. Blerg, teeth.

the shop’s window ready for valentine’s day
As a Valentine’s Day treat, thought I’d share a few photos from the hand-tied bouquet class I attended at Suzanne Cummings Flowers two weeks ago with my friend Chandra. I was completely charmed from the moment I set foot in Suzanne’s shop. It’s minimal and beautiful: the flowers really stand out. I learned so much as she patiently explained how to assemble the bouquet (Suzanne trained with London’s Jane Packer Flower School before setting up shop in Chicago.) It was great to take home proof of my hard work: the bouquet was beautiful and it lasted nearly two weeks! If you’re in Chicago, stop in for some amazing flowers, or take a class. It makes for a lovely girls’ afternoon outing.

I will always be won over by clean + pretty preppy looks. No surprise then that I am smitten with Boy by Band of Outsiders fall collection. See the full show at Style.com.

Jason Wu offered a lot of red carpet looks in his fall collection. (I’d love to see the dress above “live”.) See the full show at Style.com.

Update: you can see video of the show at the New York Times’ T Magazine blog. Nice to see how these dresses move: the one at top is much fuller than I’d imagined, and the floral skirted dress at the bottom is really appealing as it moves.
