I know: these are pears, and it doesn’t look like your typical Thanksgiving dinner picture. But sadly, this is the only photo I have from the day. I made the turkey and stuffing from Domino magazine’s turkey dinner from scratch in one hour! and roasted sweet potatoes and pears from Everyday Food. (link not working) Our neighbors brought mashed potatoes and cranberries, and Green Prairie Bakery was my source for the apple pie and rolls. The conversation was delightful, the food was delicious, my oven looks legit (boy does turkey basted in olive oil smoke at 500 degrees), and I think my “I’m a real grown-up” card deserves one punch.
My hat still goes off to those of you who pull this off every year, complete with photo documentation. I don’t know how you do it!

Welcome back, and happy December! Tricia Foley‘s home is featured in the December issue of Country Home magazine (more photos from the story “Romancing Christmas” here). It is just my style, and I’m going to add one of her books to my amazon wishlist.

I’ll be back with Thanksgiving news, plus lots of little luxuries.

Gilly pointed me toward PrinceDesignUK’s shop (what is it with England and great pottery?) and I think this Red arrow mini dish would make a nice present. I think the suggestion of using it to serve a small cupcake is sweet.

I’ll admit to spending far too much time at Etsy over the holiday weekend. But my social life loss is your gain, because I have lots to share! These pomegranate notes from Papermenagerie are simple and sweet. Available in sets of two, four, and eight. Bonus! All note sets are buy one get one free through December 1 (enter “Note” in the notes to seller). So don’t wait if you’d like a freebie.
And wait, there’s more: Items in the holiday shop are shipped for free through December 1 as well. Hooray internet shopping!

My planters are “greened” and ready to go! (It was sunny but cold when I worked on this, and let’s just say I’m glad to check off that task.)
On my list for today: pick up the turkey, as well as a few other goodies for Thursday. Then, re-read the directions for the dishes I’m cooking (turkey, roasted sweet potatoes & pears, stuffing, broccoli), and finally, remind myself it’s about giving thanks, seeing family and friends, and not perfection.
As always, I’m thankful for those of you who choose to click over and read my blog each day. Hope your holiday is lovely. I’ll see you back in this space on Monday.
