Simplicity never fails to impress. Giulietta designer Sofia Sizzi’s collection for spring is full of soft looks that are feminine without reading “girly”. I’m a fan of the blue/black pairings, but you can see the complete show (including a gorgeous strapless dress in red) at Style.com.

Spring 2014: Organic by John Patrick

Maker of my favorite t-shirts, Organic by John Patrick had such a lovely color palette for spring. The soft, slate blue is especially appealing (it reminds me of the spring sky) and you can catch a glimpse of pink in the photo below. Combined with the line’s relaxed, easy-living philosophy, it’s a winner. See Style.com for the complete collection.

Week Thirty-six: Stuff I Love / September 2013

stuff i love: september 2013 | simple pretty

A few of the things I’ve been obsessing over as we head into fall:

  1. “Bea” sweater from The Row: a featherweight option (in a cashmere/silk blend) for this season’s cozy fisherman’s sweater trend. Timeless.
  2. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment (Cherry): the latest color in the Fresh lip balm line not only moisturizes, but gives your lips a natural, rosy-red hue.
  3. Printic: the Printic app offers an easy way get 3″ x 4″ prints of favorite Instagram shots from your smartphone. Simply select + edit photos, and the prints arrive in the mail tucked into a cute orange envelope. (99¢ per photo*)
  4. Sugar Sin’s chocolate-covered marshmallow bears: I’m looking for small ways to tame my sweet tooth. These sweet (pun intended) bears are perfect. (also at Sockerbit NYC)
  5. Finlandia: simply the most darling illustrated mini-encyclopedia of all things Finn. You’ll want it even if, like me, you’ve never been.

Printic provided credits for me to try the service. No promise of editorial coverage was given.

Photo Faves: August 2013

notting hill: looking up | simple pretty

Well, it’s happened. Flickr’s redesign, while heralded by many, has caused me to use it less and less as a social outlet as I find the new “contacts” page of photos too cluttered. To cope, I’ve transitioned to using Flickr as a photo diary and will continue to post one photo a day (it’s a great motivator). In it’s place, Instagram has stepped in to fill the void: I like how the feed is very in-the-moment, plus I greatly prefer the format. (I’m sure now that I’ve said that Team Instagram is hard at work figuring out a way to change it.)

Long story short, instead of sharing only Flickr Faves each month, I’m going to start including Instagram likes. Please let me know what you think about this change, and join me at Instagram as I explore London!

A sampling of my August photo faves:

  1. A Midsummer Night’s Dinner
  2. Stars from the sea
  3. j’s summer tart
  4. Female Rose Breasted Grosbeak?
  5. wear your crown
  6. Maybe slightly burnt?
  7. Afternoon Delights
  8. We love visitors ….
  9. Perfectly imperfect USPS instruction
