With just under a month to go until the 2015 Stationery Show, I’ve found myself with letterpress on the brain just a little more than usual. One recent find is Birdwalk Press. Based in Bozeman, Montana, the line is the brainchild of Ian Johnson and Mina Talajoor Johnson. The husband-wife team draws design inspiration from Mina’s background as a plant pathologist and life-long art lover, as well as Ian’s affinity for film and photography.
I’m smitten with their simple, nature-inspired images, letterpressed on a Gordon Old-Style treadle press with plenty of white space: more than a few items from their Etsy shop are bookmarked for my next letterpress shopping spree. (Online portfolios highlight their custom work for weddings, baby announcements, events, and other creative needs.)
