Celia Lewis

I have no plans to raise chickens, and for that, my homeowners’ association is grateful. But while in London, I spotted Celia Lewis‘ delightfully illustrated guide to chickens and it got me thinking that perhaps I should/could. I can’t, but I can buy one of her beautiful chicken watercolors instead and frame it.

And in a stroke of luck, the US version of Celia’s book, The Illustrated Guide to Chickens, is available at Barnes & Noble for $8.08. A bargain by any measure.

Feedback Loop Notebook Project

lunalux’s contribution

Letterpress doing good: that’s the theme to the Feedback Loop Notebook Project, where 25 letterpress artists have made 50 notebooks. There were no design constraints, the paper was donated by Mohawk, (designers chose from Mohawk’s environmental Loop line) and all of the proceeds benefit Design Ignites Change and its School: By Design youth mentorship program. The project launches today. Click over to Felt & Wire’s shop to have a look, and pick up a notebook (or two). My current favorite is the Lunalux entry pictured above, but I think I’m going to have to take another look before making my final decision!

Illustrate Your Spending!

melbourne artist daniella germain | simple pretty

Melbourne artist and graphic design student, Daniella Germain, is hoping to rein in her spending by illustrating her purchases. Her blog, i bought a pair of Camper boots and now i am broke, is an endearing chronicle of expenditures. Have a look.

Art museums are a favorite destination of mine because they are a sublime combination of serenity and inspiration. Shown here are three works that inspired me during our walk through the Tate Modern.

The Tate Modern has a fantastic search feature for its online collection. However, I am uncertain which Agnes Martin work I photographed. If you know, please leave a comment and I will update the caption.
