Labor Day Letterpress Fun

little book of letterpress | simple pretty

Happy Labor Day! To celebrate, I’m giving away one copy of Charlotte Rivers’ Little Book of Letterpress. It’s full of photos from a wide variety of letterpress designers, including Egg Press, Simplesong, and Austin Press (too many favorites to mention them all), and I’d love to send it to you!

To enter, simply leave a comment at this post naming a favorite letterpress artist before 11:59 pm cdt, Wednesday, September 8. I will draw one winner from the eligible entries and will announce the winner in Friday’s Flickr post. Eligible comments must include a valid email address so that I can contact the winner. Due to shipping costs, I must limit the giveaway to US addresses. Finally, one comment per person, please.

Disclosure: all costs associated with this giveaway are mine. I purchased the book and will be covering the shipping costs. Good luck, and enjoy the rest of your holiday! See you tomorrow.

p.s. Happy Birthday to my sweet husband today. Here’s to another year filled with love, joy, and chocolate cake!

Friday Flickr Five

Happy Friday (and if you’re in the US, happy end-of-summer/Labor Day holiday weekend)! Pictured above is my Thursday impulse purchase from the Gap. Trying out the whole stripey tee thing. It’s a “supersoft” tee, but I’m thinking it will make a fine lightweight sweater too as I adjust to the change of seasons, which tends to be a wild ride in Chicago, as we swing between the 90s and the 60s at a moment’s notice. Despite that, fall is our best season, and I’m ready for it.

On with the Five:

  1. at the beach
  2. had to…
  3. 8000
  4. lower twin lake
  5. untitled

And with that, happy weekend! I’ll be taking Monday off to celebrate (read: attend a soccer tournament) but will have one post up that starts with “g” and ends with “away”. I think you’ll like it. Enjoy the last bits of summer.

Snippets from Paris: Poilâne

Thank goodness Poilâne stays open in Paris during August! I am enchanted with the elegant “Poilâne” script, and I yearn to someday have a lifestyle which incorporates a proper bakery, with bread, and truth be told, yummy cookies like punitions (read more about the story behind their name at Smitten Kitchen). Thankfully, Poilâne’s punitions have a longish shelf life (I was told three weeks) and so I’ve been able to nibble my way through my stash, extending the experience. (Nerdy me visited both the London and Paris Cherche-Midi locations, but my purchases were in Paris as it was our last stop before heading home.)

Emerson Made Clothing

Emerson Made launched a clothing line in August, and wouldn’t you know, my eyes went directly to this eggplant shift. Of course, I will also need a gigantic flower pin as an accent.
