Melbourne’s Vince Letterpress has some adorable calling cards. How nice to have an elegant option for those of us who need fill-in-the-blank versatility!  I cannot wait to see more from Meaghan, so I’ve bookmarked her etsy shop ….

This Hovis baking tin makes a fine planter, but I’d like it even better as a Halloween candy holder. What do you think? Available at UK shop Pedlars.

Also spotted at Three Potato Four.

Friday Flickr Five + a break

lasalle street bedroom with charcoal blanket from area | simple pretty

Happy Friday! We’re on day one of a four day holiday weekend. Are we going away? Of course not, as holiday weekends mean soccer tournaments (and a cross country sectional meet, but who’s counting?) It’s supposed to be cold cold cold by Sunday, too. Blanket weather is here, so let’s get On with the Five:

I read through a few of my recent posts, and noticed I’ve been using “I love everything about it” more than I’d like. (Falling back on writing crutches, I guess.) I think it means I need a break to relax and recharge, so I’m giving myself next week off. The goal is to cut back on my computer time + be more connected with the day to day, before it’s cold + snow + cabin fever weather. I’ll see you back here on Monday, October 19. Until then!

Keep the comments coming on the book giveaway. The deadline is Monday night and  I’ll be looking for an excuse to check in :)

Make Good Books

Update (10/14): Jeanelle is the winner (I used random.org to select a commenter). Thanks to all for your entries!

make good books, japanese craft books in english | simple pretty

This could be the best new book series idea I’ve seen in a long time. Make Good Books has translated Japanese craft books into English (and you know how I feel about Japanese crafts). I received the two titles above in August for review, and they’re stunning both in production and content. I’m hoping to make the slippers from the cover of Felting for Baby, as well as a really pretty notebook cover. (And you don’t need a baby to need a felted notebook cover!) Both books will be available for purchase Tuesday, October 13, but you can preview them (as well as download a few craft projects from the Make Good series) at their website. (And as of this writing, the site says the titles will ship in 24-48 hours. Yay for early!)

I’d like to offer my preview copy of Carefree Clothes for Girls, featuring designs for girls ages four to seven, as a giveaway. (Full disclosure: while I received the books from Make Good, I’m paying to mail the winner his/her copy.) If you’re interested, please leave a comment (one per person and no anonymous, please) at this post before Monday, October 12 at 11:59 pm cdt. I’ll draw one winner and will contact him/her at the email address provided for shipping instructions. I really hope this series catches on and there are more titles in the future. Fantabulous idea.

Make Good Books also has a flickr stream with more photos from their titles.

I am really drawn to this jacket/skirt silhouette. (Less so to the “hoedown” theme.) See the full Chanel show at Style.com.
