The flight to London (and the hotel) would cancel out the “little” part of this luxury, but tea and pastries in a flower shop? and may I suggest London’s You Don’t Bring Me Flowers? That sounds perfect right about now …..

A wedding or party planned by Chelsea would be the ultimate little luxury. If I lived in Portland, this would be tops on my list for 2009.

I am so looking forward to Stephanie’s holiday shop update today, as these pine cones are just perfect. Simple + textured + elegant + I love them.

Good morning! I was in love with Tuesday’s morning light. (Above, it’s streaming into our guest bedroom.) So cheery and warm, and yet it felt like winter all the same. I’m really feeling the holiday crush right now. Both holidays: Thanksgiving (as I will not be able to relax until my ducks are in a row) and Christmas (see Thanksgiving). I think for Christmas presents I’m going to try to achieve giving “little luxuries”. You know, the little things you wouldn’t ordinarily buy for yourself but would love to have? Like Mast Brothers Chocolate! (C’mon, they have to start selling those online. That paper is killing me and it defines little luxury, does it not? I would squeal with delight if one made it into my stocking!) With that in mind, I hope to focus on those types of items when I blog about great gifts over the next few weeks. Because you have to keep the pocketbook happy, but you also have to keep the heart happy.
More later.
Off topic, but I’m loving the new Design*Sponge feature “design by the book”. I cannot wait to see what each of the designers finds and creates. Libraries, especially old and crammed-full-of-books-and-silence-libraries, are among my favorite things. Check it out.

Did you see the Rulers of the World featured in the December 2008 issue of Country Living? I think these would make fabulous stocking stuffers. Only $2 each at Greer. I’m thinking either baseball or the Presidents for my guy, but there are lots and lots to choose from ….
