Basak at Small Square Design has added some delightful new letterpressed items to her etsy shop. I am particularly smitten with the gift box tags pictured above, as well as the leaf placecards below. The leaf placecards would be especially charming at a Thanksgiving table.
(Did I mention that I’m cooking Thanksgiving dinner? Let’s not talk about that today – my internet just came back.)

Hello, all! My internet has been down all morning … but now that it’s up, I’m pleased to spread the word about Suann’s new “i heart letterpress” subscription. You can sign up for a 3-month or a 6-month subscription filled with letterpress goodness. Personally, I think it would make an amazing holiday gift. If you can resist buying it for yourself right now, that is. Click on over to the simplesong etsy shop to see more.
And congratulations, Suann for your Daily Candy mention today! It couldn’t have happened to a nicer (or more talented) person.
And now, for me, back to catching up on emails and such. Hopefully, more later.

Charming downtown Lake Forest now has a J.Crew shop in the former Field’s/Macy’s space. It opens today, and will stock women’s and the crewcuts line. I am so there this week to check it out. We were in Lake Forest on Saturday and I was peeking in the window as they were busy getting ready. I spotted a pretty sequined top that I’d like to see up close. (I think it’s this top.)
If you feel like virtually shopping, you can now look through J.Crew’s catalogs online, too. Hooray for technology.

Monday was one of those days where everything hit me at once. Know what I mean? I realized just how much stuff I have to get done sooner rather than later. There are magazines to read (and hopefully find inspiration in that I can share with you!), rooms to clean, and gifts to wrap. Who am I kidding? There are gifts to buy. And just when I thought I was making a dent (I ordered ribbon!), my son came into the kitchen and announced “It’s snowing and it’s sticking.” The sticking part didn’t end up holding, but the snow was there. And with that first snow, the holidays seemed just a bit closer. I grabbed my camera and tried to stop the clock. Enjoy it. Capture it. Remember …. because the first snow is the romantic snow …. especially when it doesn’t involve shoveling.
More later.

I can’t wait until the latest issue of New York magazine arrives, as it’s the gift guide! But until it does, take a look at these yummy cookies from the Downtown Cookie Co, featured in the mag. I’ll take one box, please. Maybe two?
