Love this dress from the Réyes spring 2009 collection. Made even more striking by the model, I think. Gorgeous. See the rest of the collection at style.com.

Thursday I welcomed fall with my first cup of hot tea in many months. (I can’t do hot drinks when it’s hot, even though I’ve heard it makes you feel cool.) My pick? Organic earl grey with vanilla, topped with steamed soy milk. I think I’ve found my fall 08 go-to flavor.
And for irony, New York fashion week for spring 2009 begins today. I can’t wait to see the newness. Until then, on with the Five:</p
Have a wonderful weekend! See you back here on Monday.
Who am I kidding? I’ll be back with fashion picks as necessary. Gear up, R!

whale organic cotton tote bag photo from johnderian.com
While I wait for my local Target‘s John Derian collection to arrive, I found these lovely “ephemera” items at the John Derian site. Who couldn’t use a cute whale tote bag? (made from organic cotton, $18)

And I love, love the idea of postcards! There are 20 styles online at $1.50 each. I really need to visit in person.

Kule’s F/W 08 collection is online, and for fun, I browsed through the girls’ selections. Love these two items. I think the Buffy dress looks very “Isaac” to me, while still retaining a “kid” feel.

penelope cardigan photo from kule.com
And my love for cashmere is well documented: this Penelope cardigan would look smashing with the Citrina top, for a young Marni look. Pricey, yet adorable. (This is the cardigan I saw at the May trunk show and wanted. For me. The color is waaay better than your computer’s rendering.)

Wednesday, the weather matched the calendar. After days of warm warm warm (and dry dry dry), we had rain showers, and it stayed close to 70. A welcome change, as I will not miss my watering chores.
Thought the picture above captured the season. The pears are “Harrow Delight” from our csa box. I’m loving the variety of fruits and vegetables our half share brings, but I’m hating the amount of stuff we end up composting due to our family size (and perhaps a little lack of planning on my part). I think that next year I’ll resolve to hit the farmer’s markets more diligently and to keep trying and pushing new foods.
Enjoy the day!
