Flickr Faves: June 2013

lasalle street: vase of peonies | simple pretty

July is here. One week from today, the movers arrive. Ten days from today, my buddy and I get on a plane to London. My husband is back in town this week to help me pull it together, both literally and figuratively. I always knew the final push would be hard; I just wasn’t expecting the wave of sentimentality that has washed over me. Case in point: my Flickr photostream for June is full of peony photos. Peony plants I selected and planted over the last 13++ years, and am now saying my maudlin goodbyes to. (I know: London is full of gorgeous flowers, including peonies. Things will get better.)

While I brood, enjoy a few of my Flickr Favorites from June:

Back to packing.

If you had to sell a collection to me with one photo, this would be it. Stunning. See the complete Saint Laurent resort collection (and yes, all the photos are this good) at Style.com.

Week Twenty-six: iPad Mini Cases

ipad mini cases | simple pretty

I recently purchased an iPad Mini (and should have bought one months ago: it’s proved to be perfect for reading mags + dealing with emails, not to mention super portable). I bought a Smart feather shell from Incipio that is very similar to my beloved Elago iPhone case to protect it from bumps + accidental drops while at home**, but I definitely need a simple chic case to protect the screen while I’m travelling. I think any the six options pictured above would suit my needs. Do you see a winner?

  1. Weird Old Snail iPad Mini Sleeve in dark gray + orange felt ($32): could be nice to have the extra storage pockets
  2. Daycraft iPad Mini Pocket – Grey ($34.65): über minimalist in Italian PU, which I presume means polyurethane.
  3. ANVE envelope iPad black (€109): this is hands down my favorite option, but it’s not available for the mini!
  4. PinsnNeedles iPad Mini Wool Felt Sleeve/Case ($32): the elastic closure (+ pockets) appeal.
  5. 11+ Felt Case – iPad Mini ($45): this case has a lot of bells + whistles engineered into a slick, minimalist design.
  6. byrd & belle Simple iPad Mini Sleeve/Charcoal Felt ($32): another minimalist option, this time in felt.

** Elago’s iPad Mini shells are cut out on the left side to accommodate a smart cover, which I did not want.

My fashion game is about to get bumped up a notch, as I expect that London will allow for more “out and about” days than the suburbs. Ter et Bantine’s resort collection has plenty of city-appropriate yet comfy (check out the shoes!) options. See all of the looks at Style.com

Week Twenty-five: Supply Paper Co.

love the tagline “to create something that is of worth”

I’ve long admired Supply Paper Co. designer/founder Jessie James. Her stationery designs are a minimalist’s delight, the Supply Paper Co. online shop is full of myriad utilitarian-themed goodies, and Jessie’s Instagram photos provide a daily dose of inspiration. When I learned Fête Press would be featuring a peek inside Jessie + husband Russell’s Sydney home in the winter issue (on stands and available to order now), I was champing at the bit for my copy to arrive. No surprise: her approach to decorating, entertaining, and living mirrors her design aesthetic. (And I love it.)
