Paris Fall 2011: Céline

Phoebe Philo has a knack for taking the simplest of looks and transforming them into something I believe is so alluring that it transcends fashion. (And how is that for hyperbole?) See the complete collection at Style.com.

Paris Fall 2011: Issey Miyake

I’m quite taken with Issey Miyake’s geometric ballerina look pictured above. (I have no idea whether the assistance is due to wardrobe malfunction or simply part of the show, but the origami skirt is rather cool, no?) I love this collection so much. It’s so understated and so elegant (translation: simple + pretty) and I so wish it were hanging in my closet. See the complete Rochas show at Style.com.

Week Eight: Introducing Low Country Press (and Meg Sutton)

Designer Meg Sutton wanted a creative outlet and “escape” from corporate design. Spurred on by a Savannah shop-keeper (and good friend), the two attended the National Stationery Show for inspiration, and with a little friendly prodding on the airplane ride home, designs and ideas for a letterpress business were born. Low Country Press is inspired by the beauty of the region: laidback elegance with Southern charm. Meg’s designs range from weddings to business to everyday: I adore their spirit, color, and energy. (I’m also beyond smitten with the fabulous scrabble-themed wedding invitation suite for her own wedding in 2009.)  To learn just a little more about the mind behind the design, Meg has graciously agreed to answer my “Getting to Know ….” questions.

Getting to Know: Meg Sutton

I start my day …. slowly. I’m so not a morning person!

Inspired by ….  typewriters, farm tables, vintage flashcards… I am a lover of all things vintage and have more than a slight obsession with paper goods, especially letterpressed ones. I have boxes and boxes of vintage flashcards, a gift from my grandmother saved from when she was a teacher, and dream of covering an entire wall in them.

Favorite place …. anywhere warm and sunny.

Never without ….. my iPhone. It’s sad, but oh so true.

In 2011, I hope to …. design and launch a collection of greeting cards and gift wrap, as well as a customizable wedding invitation line so that in 2012, I can exhibit at the National Stationery Show in NYC.

February Flickr Faves

Glad February is ending (and that it’s so short!) Once again, it’s been a tough, too-long-for-me winter with an abundance of cabin fever. Here’s hoping for a bit of spring in March, and in the mean time, some favorite February photos:
