-13 F here this morning at our house. -17 on the news. No school today. Thankfully, Gracia Haby and Louise Jennison have a new zine out titled Summertime, and so I’m going to pretend I live in the Southern Hemisphere for a bit this morning. (But I will keep the blanket on my lap all the same.)
You can see more images from this lovely zine at gracialouise.bigcartel.com and also purchase a copy. Louise, as always, your watercolors are beautiful.

Good morning! The big question at our house is “Will there be school today?” and that depends on just how cold it is Friday morning. It’s only a half day (and then a three-day weekend) so I’m inclined to send him and get it over with. Then again, I don’t have to stand at the bus stop.
It’s sad: I’m now secretly wishing for temperatures in the 20s. Dare to dream.
On with the Five:
- Barn DigiArt?
- so quiet
- ASK.ME.IN
- lucierie
- Full Wolf Moon
For the weekend, it’s soccer Saturday, baby shower Sunday, and everyone home on Monday! Hooray!
On a personal note, I just passed the 1000 photo mark on Flickr. That astounds me, as prior to joining Flickr I don’t think I took 1000 photos period.
And finally, Ballerina, a documentary by Bertrand Normand opens today in New York, at the Mariinsky Theatre. I’d love to see this when/if it makes its way to Chicago. I hope it does.
See you Monday.

I’ve been reading about this movie forever. It’s premiering at Sundance tomorrow: read more at the official website. I’m just a little obsessed with magazine production in general, and September Vogue in particular, so I’m soooo eager to see it.

I’m currently loving this Haddington invitation set from Smock Paper. The calligraphy is a Smock-exclusive font, “Smock Spencerian”, developed with Richard Kegler at P22. I think my favorite feature is the medallion printed liner (lesina). Out-stand-ing, and the perfect shade of sky blue.

So you aren’t getting married? (Like me?) You could incorporate the calligraphy + liner into some custom stationery. My taste usually trends toward the austere, but I’m really taken with this ornate liner trend …. and all things blue as well.
Check out Smock’s full line at their website. Smock prints on bamboo paper, a sustainable/eco-friendly source. While you’re there, visit the Smock blog! This botanical set, featured in Modern Bride, is another fav of mine.
