Good luck and happy commenting. See you Monday.

Good news to report: the masonite has left the building! Painting is going on today, and then we’ve arrived at final inspections and, of course, the punch list. I think that next Friday will be the last construction update so that you can see the chairs, and the paint. It was fun chronicling my stress, but I’m glad it’s (mostly) over.
On with the Five:
- summer in the city
- after work snack
- seed
- 2008 07 24
- College steps
Hope your weekend is fun – we have a big birthday party to attend on Saturday, as well as the usual weekend stuff, and also:

Mad Men: Season Two on AMC. Sunday night. Get that dvr ready ….
See you Monday!
ps: Coldplay was incredibly good! I have three new favorite songs from Viva la Vida: Life in Technicolor, Lovers in Japan, and Death and All His Friends. Thanks to my sweet husband for getting me off my lazy butt and for buying tickets. I owe you big time. Because if were up to me, we would have missed it. And I loved it.

This is one of those days where “pre-writing” the blog entry feels a bit odd. By the time blogger posts this, I will hopefully still be asleep, having seen and enjoyed Coldplay. As I type, we haven’t left yet, my husband is at work, and my buddy is napping on the family room sofa. The show starts at 9pm, which happens to be his bedtime, so he decided to take a nap. All on his own.
Thursday should bring a coffee date (I’ll certainly need it!) with the mom I worked with on Art Adventure, and then later in the day, the painter will come by and prep the ceiling and walls for painting. Perhaps he’ll even paint? Dare to dream. I ordered the chairs for the island seating on Wednesday, so they should arrive early next week.
And then, the real work begins. And by that I mean it’s time to get to work on all of the stuff I’ve procrastinated because the kitchen has been all-consuming. We have an enormous pile of stuff that needs to go to Goodwill, cluttering the guest room instead of relocated dishware. I need to set up the kitchen’s office nook so that when school starts, there is a plan in place. And despite an already huge Goodwill pile, I really need to get back into the closet and take a good, hard look at my wardrobe and ruthlessly get rid of what isn’t working, or looks too young for the mother of an (almost) 11-year-old. I play with the idea of hiring a stylist (warning: it’s one of those music sites, so if you’re online at 5am and people are sleeping nearby, beware) who would tell me the truth, as well as open my eyes to life beyond JCrew teeshirts and jeans. Not that there’s anything wrong with either. I have definite and strong opinions but perhaps adding a few new tricks would be nice.
See you tomorrow with the construction update, and the Five.

I love schoolhouse typefaces. And so when I found this (at 29 Olives, courtesy of Design is Mine, via Free Design, thanks to Decor8 – did you follow that web segue?) it was love at first sight. Want it.
The linked blogs are a lot of fun. Who couldn’t use a design freebie?

Oh, what a gorgeous day Tuesday was! This photo is of our front yard, sparkly with dew after I came back from my 7am run. It was in the low 70s all day, so I opened up lots and lots of windows and let the fresh air in. It felt great.
I have to let you in on my latest addiction (other than vegan chocolate chip cookies). It’s Smucker’s magic shell, or that ice cream cone dipping syrup. We have been to Greg’s Frozen Custard more times than I’d like to admit this summer. Any flavor in a dipped cone, please. In a sign of strength, I did not buy a bottle of “sauce” today on my Target run. But who knows? I may make my own.
In other news, 1. There are no more holes in the ceiling! and 2. We’re going to see Coldplay tonight! My buddy is really excited. See you on Thursday.
Happy Birthday to my sisters K & K today!
