Once again, the first giveaway winner has failed to contact me with his/her address. (It is the winner’s job to contact me once I post the name. I am not going to track down mailing addresses; nor do I think I should have to. Sorry for the crabbiness.)

And so I am reaching into my son’s baseball cap to redraw for the Martha Stewart magazine giveaway. Congratulations, kamewh! You’ve won! Please contact me (visit my profile) by Thursday, July 17 at 5 pm cdt and I’ll get your loot wrapped and on its way. Yea, you!

Summer, summer, summer ….

lasalle street rose | simple pretty

…. can it get any better? Seriously. I feel like all of my March (April? May?) weather whining had a purpose, as Sunday brought another p-e-r-f-e-c-t day, and Saturday was nice as well. We were “out and among ’em”, and my head is spinning on Sunday night as I type this, so I’ll be brief and catch you all up tomorrow.

My quick tip of the day is to start recording “Flipping Out”. Yes, I spent a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon watching episodes and getting caught up. Something about that crazy OCD Jeff Lewis really appeals to me. (Perhaps it’s a somewhat removed judgment of my own OCD tendencies?) The most recent episode, featuring the dog dna testing, could be one of my favs ever. I’ve even coopted the expression “have a pretzel” when either my husband or I is being especially perfectionistic. You’ll get it when you watch …..

See you Tuesday.

New Sara Midda Book!

I love to check out my Amazon recommendations, especially the “coming soon” section. And this morning’s glance told me that Sara Midda’s In and Out of the Garden, one of my favorite books, is being re-issued in September. Even better, she has a new book coming on October 1: How to build a A. It’s now in my cart, awaiting October. I’m sure it will be full of lovely illustrations. (and now that I’ve read the description, I think it will make an excellent baby gift, too!)

Construction Update Seven and the Five

lasalle street kitchen renovation, week seven | simple pretty

Another week of kitchen work is behind me. Thursday brought electrical work (yea! the dishwasher can be used!) as well as appliance delivery, and hvac work for the vent hood. Note the nice holes in the ceiling. They’ll go away soon. Oh, and I put my first scratch in the countertop being an idiot. Lesson learned. (There were a few scratches from various contractors, so with any luck we’ll be able to make them all go away and I’ll start with a clean slate. Let’s hope, because now I’m smarter.)

On with the Five:

  1. before:18
  2. Old Skool New Kicks
  3. Bokeh Shopping
  4. Rose
  5. Peony 1

See you Monday!
