Little by little

Today is a day for small pleasures …. 1. Jon Stewart’s smack-down of William Bennett on the Daily Show (I love when Jon argues with people and wins – and so easily – why, oh why do they come on his show and try to argue with him?)2. Getting rid of the birds’ nest, complete with three baby birds, that was set up in a bathroom vent 3. Buying just the song “Frolic” from the Curb Your Enthusiasm soundtrack on iTunes 4. The wondrous lake breeze that has kicked in this afternoon …. current temperature 70°.

Catalog obsession

The latest Williams-Sonoma catalog arrived today, and I’m so in love with this Rose Flower Arranging Kit from Pinon Designs!  The flowers look beautiful, and I really want the illustrated step-by-step directions.  (and the rose dethorner, too – I’d feel so Martha!)  How long will I be able to hold out before I break down and order this?

TV Night

I am so happy to be “newsy” again that I’m going to overlook Comedy Central’s scheduling changes, which caused me to miss both Jon and Stephen’s reruns this morning.  No matter – it’ll be a triple header tonight for me: Jon at 7, Stephen at 7:30 and Kathy Griffin at 8 on Bravo.  Ahhhh, life is good.  Time to return to my cynical self  – two weeks off was quite enough.

Stuff you should buy ….

oh too cute!

Seriously, you cannot pass this up, especially if you are a stationery/letterpress nut like myself.  Get over to Port2Port Press, and check out “the card society.”  You can subscribe for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months.  And when you do (like how I wrote “when”?), you will get the sweetest little membership card ever!  I’ve been reading Port2Port’s blog for a while now, and really enjoy reading and learning about Mav and Arc, and letterpress.  If you’re subscription shy, there are other cards to buy that change monthly.  My membership card should arrive this week – can’t wait to have one in my hands!

Monday Monday

Had a great time in Boston!  The flight out was delayed 2 hrs, but no matter ….. Saturday morning I went to my favorite spot for breakfast, the South End Buttery.  They make the best chocolate chip muffins, and the coffee is nice and strong.  If you’re in the South End, you must go. The downpours let up mid-morning, and I was able to walk all over – got to Beacon Hill, Newbury Street, and the malls.  My sister is moving out of her South End home during June, so there was a good-bye pizza party Saturday night.  Lots of piano playing (by myself and others) including one very enthusiastic and talented 11-year-old.  All in all, a wonderful weekend in a first class city.
