Ask me to bake and I rise to the challenge (cookies are my specialty). Ask me to cook and, although competent, I panic. Therefore, I can’t wait to dig into Martha Stewart’s Cooking School. (I think I’ll drop by the bookstore this afternoon to check it out and buy it.) I’m sure it will be full of beautiful photos (as only Martha can do), not to mention instructive in all of the cooking techniques I’ve never learned. And as the teenage years are just around the corner at our house, the timing couldn’t be better.

I am really picky about fragrance in lotions/shampoos/you-name-it. I’m loving my new “mint julep” handcreme from Lollia that I picked up while in Beaufort, SC. Minty/vanilla smell, but not too strong. Plus, the packaging is ultra-cute for tucking into my purse. And hey, it’s a really good moisturizer, too! I’m going to have to try the shampoo and conditioner next ….

I was checking out Minted.com last week (I didn’t go cold turkey on the internet!) and noticed they’re offering a neat feature on some of their holiday cards. It’s called Yearline, and it’s a nice way to incorporate the typical “family letter” elegantly and neatly into your card.

Hello again from a very fall-like Chicago. I can’t believe how quickly my week away passed by. I was able to cut back a bit on the internet time and just enjoy (though truth be told I did keep up with the goings-on of my online “friends”). I’m back at cleaning out the house, which feels great and oddly makes me want even less, which is odd because …
… over the weekend, I bought a new laptop. Things are still out of sorts as I get things moved from the old to the new. All the photos and mail and music are on the old computer so it’s very chaotic. Hopefully, by Tuesday I’ll have it a bit more reined in.
My brain is all over the place right now. I think some coffee is in order. Be back shortly.

Hello! I’m glad to be back, and to kick things off I have a giveaway: Isaac Mizrahi’s new book, “How to Have Style”. Full of photos and tips on how to develop your personal style (complete with my favorite step; creating an inspiration board!) Could be just what you’re looking for, or maybe cross off some holiday shopping?
