This week’s spring cleaning prompted giveaway is chicken themed. (or to be more exact, rooster themed) Included is a top-spiral notebook with white pages from Me Giant, who makes adorable children’s tees by the way, including one with the moo-ing rooster pictured. This promotional notebook was included with my order. The second notepad is smaller and would be great for tucking in your purse. Titled “scratches & scribbles”, it’s from Armato Design.
Interested? Leave a comment (no anonymous) at this post before 11:59 pm cdt on Monday, March 10. I’ll draw one name and announce the winner in Wednesday’s blog post. Good luck!

Even though I live in the (still) snow-covered north, I love southern architecture and decorating and houses in general. And, I’d gladly trade weather right now. So, I happily await my Charleston subscription, (spectacular design and photography, by the way) and pick up Southern Accents at the newsstand more often than not. This month, a favorite designer/party planner of mine, Tara Guerard (of Soiree), is featured in both magazines. I’ve long admired her work after noticing her name time and time again in Charleston magazine weddings and parties features that I loved. And yes, I own her book.
Southern Accents features her baby shower, with the cutest ideas, as you would expect. With a yellow and blue polka-dot theme, it was full of inspiring party ideas, including giraffe rattles as napkin rings, baby onesie and giraffe decorated cookies, and a gorgeous and elegant polka-dot cake. It all looked delightful, and better yet, doable. The best kind of inspiration.
Charleston’s March issue features a peek into her home, and from the snippet on the website, I am smitten! (Especially crazy for the exposed brick in the kitchen. And no, my copy has not arrived yet, so I’m going purely from the website here. But I’ll be checking the mailbox.) Not to mention she’s a girl after my own heart. The quote that got me? “I buy paint based on the name.” Oh yeah, been there, bought that ….
And even though I don’t know you, Congratulations, Tara, on your baby boy!

Okay, I couldn’t resist the alliteration. Featured above are the fashions that didn’t make it in to their own entries (for whatever reason: primarily laziness). I adore all three: the Peter Som dress would be so fun to wear to an “event” (know of any events you’d like to invite me to next fall?). Love the feather details! The Agnes B skirt is fabulous: love its striping, and how it’s shown with the leather jacket. Martin Grant? Love him! What a perfect, timeless, elegant dress. Does he still design the Barney’s private label line? Anyone?
And now for the winner of the Giveaway: knittingrunner, you are the winner! Send me an email (see my profile) with your mailing address, and I’ll get it wrapped and on its way.

I love when fun things you weren’t expecting arrive in the mail. Such was my luck on Monday, when this sweet leap day fortune teller arrived from the folks at Frog’s Leap Winery. My first fortune is that I will take 2nd place in a beauty contest. I think I will let my son work the fortune teller for the next one.
Side note: I really wanted to tour this winery when we were in Napa because I love their witty mailings – and the wine, too – but they were closed the days we were in town. Next time!
And even more good fortune – I learned that you can watch some of In Treatment, the HBO series I’m dying to check out, at the HBO website, and at YouTube. This is happiness for me, since we are not subscribers. Our cable “extras” splurge is a sports package that includes soccer. Hmmmm, wonder who ordered that?
See you tomorrow, but before I go, a reminder: don’t forget to check out Maria’s new stuff at Port2Port today!
