Yes! Finally, some Stationery News. I’ve been a fan of Page Stationery for a while …. they’ve had some beautiful custom work featured in Martha Stewart Weddings …. and I’ve been a little sad that I didn’t need any custom work (but that didn’t stop me from flipping through their albums at Broadway Paper) ….. but now, Page is launching an Everyday Goods line! (So glad I re-discovered their site while wandering the web ….)
Everyday Goods will include greeting cards, gift cards, boxed notes, a calendar, and coasters. The top photo showcases the cute gift cards. Love the curly-cloud around “for you” – wouldn’t that be fun on a gift? The second photo, of greeting cards, is also fun. I really like the zodiac-themed one, but really, they’re all so simply elegant, it’s hard to choose. (and I can’t wait to see the calendar and coasters!) I’m sure I’ll be adding some Everyday Goods to my collection …. some to use; some to save. It’s all so sweet!Look for Everyday Goods by Page at your favorite stationery store soon. Milwaukee road trip? And as always, Page is a great bet for your custom stationery work. Check out the Page Stationery website.
Thanks to Taylor at Page Stationery for use of the photos.

Ah, Magazine Monday. The unofficial holiday celebrated only at my local post office. I can just imagine the workers, sorting mail during the week, coming across magazines and tossing them in a big “Save For Monday” box. Well, maybe not. But it sure seems that way. More often than not, Monday means a big pile of magazines. (Are you as enthralled with that shortcake on Martha as I am? Yum.)
As it rained all day here yesterday, I spent the bulk of the day getting organized: I washed our bedding, including two of the pillows (pillows take forever to dry, by the way – I would suggest you not do it on a rainy day), cleared out my iPhoto of stuff I wasn’t intending to save, got rid of kitchen cabinet catalogs that we don’t need (after giving them a last scan for hardware ideas), cleared off a good area of the kitchen island, which is a sea of paper with two days of school left, and finally sat down to flip through the Monday Magazines. Over the weekend, we had another kitchen meeting, and I feel like the layout is set, but now it’s details and decisions time. I flipped, looking closely at any featured kitchen – analyzing the hardware. I have strong opinions about what I like and want. Great, right? NO – here’s why. I can’t find the stuff I “want” at times. Take kitchen knobs and pulls. Knobs are easy – pretty much any simple, round knob will work. (unless I use latches? but that will take some husband persuading, so it’s probably knobs) Pulls are harder. Yes, the cup-pulls are great, and are my second choice, but then I had to see these incredibly perfect pulls in a Williams-Sonoma catalog. I cannot find something similar, which means that I want them even more …..Finally, if you don’t read Daily Candy London, you might like to check out this London tea shop’s website. Wearetea looks great. I would totally be for one of these opening in Chicago, and going for elevenses.

Ah, the Sunday New York Times. Whether it’s reassuring me that my only child will turn out okay (happy, even), or challenging my brain with the crossword, or tempting me with ads for expensive things, I look forward to its arrival, and the cup(s) of coffee that go along with the read …. Sunday mornings are near perfect.Yesterday, I learned that if I lived in Los Angeles (and I do not), I would totally be checking out two bakeries. One is opening this week – the Vanilla Bake Shop, owned by 29-year-old Amy Berman, a former “Will & Grace” p.a. who went back to pastry school to learn the craft. (Her shop looks adorable – I’d love to sample the cupcakes!) The second, and equally alluring, is the Treat Street bakery, which opens in secret, random places in the Silver Lake neighborhood. Oh yeah – how fun would it be to wake up one weekend and discover an awesome bakery that just appeared!? I would love it …. (check out their cute halloween cookies!) And just so you know, I live in awe of any bakery that could open outdoors, on the street, in January …. enough said.
Now that I have you thinking about bakeries, cakes, etc. at 7am, I have to add that I discovered another new book to anticipate: Martha Stewart’s Wedding Cakes, arriving in bookstores at the end of the year. It appears that Wendy Kromer will co-author. At $60, I’m sure that it will be chock-full of beautiful photos. Anyone needing wedding inspiration (or party inspiration)? Check it out at randomhouse.com.
and the rose pictured above? its scent is heavenly, and it’s quite peony-like … which is nice …

Throw a holiday Monday into my week, and I get out of sorts. What day is it? Sorry, drycleaning delivery guy – my dog was in the yard because I forgot yesterday was Wednesday! It’s Thursday already? One week of school left? Can’t be. I’ve got to get back into the “making lunch” groove. I am one of those lucky moms whose son loves to eat hot lunch every day …. plus he can’t get enough of the pb and j. Which leaves me free to pick up (or make) a sandwich, eat leftovers, choose to have a cookie for lunch, whatever. Tomorrow, his third-grade class has a field trip (downtown Chicago – we’re taking a boat tour – and I say we because I am chaperoning). Which means I have to figure out two lunches for tomorrow. Any great ideas? The lazy in me is all set to drive down to my favorite bakery/cafe and pick up a couple of boxed lunches that can endure an hour-long bus ride. That’s the quick fix ….. reality sets in next Thursday. When I’m not obsessing over what to eat, I’m trying to drink more water during the day, and tap water whenever possible. Discovered a great water flavoring yesterday courtesy of my Pilates studio: ginger slices and blueberries in a pitcher of ice water. It was lovely, and tasty, and definitely something I’m going to try at home!
And lastly, this morning I learned that for $250, you can buy a ticket to see Prince live at the Minneapolis Macy’s (which really should be Dayton’s, but that’s another story) on July 7. Plus, it allows you to see him in concert that night at the Target center plus it gets you two special-edition bottles of his new perfume, 3121. (okay, that is the least appealing part of the deal, but it is included) The catch? Tickets go on sale at the Macy’s cosmetics counter tomorrow at 10am. I will be on a bus! in Chicago! And it sounds like so much fun ….
