One of the best things about the internet is its ability to connect you with those you otherwise would not meet. This comes in handy for gift giving – because the array is astounding! I plan to feature some gift ideas in the coming days and weeks, but the three featured today are so good you simply must know about them, too!
1. Port2Port’s Art for the Holidays Gift Guide I’m starting to wonder when Maria sleeps: there are so many lovely (and unique) and affordable gifts featured that you’ll certainly be able to cross one person off of your list after looking!
2. Design*Sponge Grace’s blog is featuring gifts at all levels this week. Today is $25 and under, and affordable art.
3. Blueprint’s Holiday Gift Guide No new Blueprint magazine until Mar/Apr 07 (yes, I called them) so this new web content will have to do. I am a big fan of the Oromono slippers ……
Happy Shopping!
Before the Friday Five, let me just say that Ed Helms is turning out to be such a delight on the Office! I can’t wait to see the Andy/Dwight duels play out each week. Love it!
And now, the Flickr five:
1. Pencils Totally loving the detail on this – how long can I hold out before I order some?
2. (untitled) Just love the feeling of this.
3. the launch! Port2Port’s beautiful and quickly-sold-out 2007 calendar. Now you know why ….
4. acorns Gorgeous color.
5. cream polaroid Lovely simplicity.
Have a great weekend! See you on Monday …..
Sometimes, it doesn’t pay to delay your gratification. Yesterday, Maria at Port2Port Press launched her holiday collection. Her calendar, a sight to behold (soooo great!), sold out in two-and-a-half hours. As of this morning, there are only a few holiday items left in her etsy shop. My favorite of the remainders is the starry and branch card set. I managed to snap up a starry card set yesterday. It, too, is now sold out. But I’m holding out hope – she’s adding some more items on December 1! Check out her etsy shop, her blog, and her flickr photos: you will not be disappointed. (and you can see that calendar!) All are lovely.
For some reason, the mailman brings magazines en masse on Mondays. This week, I was hit with Food & Wine, Travel & Leisure, Country Living, and Martha Stewart Living. (Yesterday, InStyle arrived. I guess even the USPS has its limits.) I’m really enjoying my Travel & Leisure subscription. I don’t travel much, but I love the magazine’s design and the products it features. Featured in the December issue, I am all about the Moleskine City Notebook. It’s so cute and practical and cool! Full of maps, blank pages for your insights, and ribbons and tabs to mark your place. Right now, only European cities are available, but in the spring, Boston, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. launch. In October, Moleskine featured an exhibition in London with 70 designers each personalizing a City Notebook. Wouldn’t it be fun to personalize your own? A great guide while you’re there; a souvenir once you’re home.

My dog, a German Shorthaired Pointer, is constantly “on the hunt”. On walks, she goes on point for birds, bunnies, you name it. So it was a surprise when, out in the yard this morning, she totally missed the bunny hanging out by our patio. (I saw it!) I got outside and snapped three photos before the bunny scampered away. Oh yeah, at that point Cooper noticed. But as with the birds, the bunnies always get away – another day, another chase.
