Peeking in to say hello from kitchen construction land! It’s been a busy week so far (although totally quiet today). We now have: countertops, a microwave, all cabinets up, and trim/moulding going up. We also have water! Which means no more washing dishes in the laundry tub. Yeah, I was starting to hate that.
Better yet, the electrical work passed the rough inspection (third time truly is a charm) so the refrigerator can go in next week.
Okay, I’m back to my “vacation”. Right now, I’m heading out for Pilates. See you on Monday.

Hello from kitchen remodel land! Thursday saw electrical work, part ii, and I think we have our ducks in a row for a re-inspection on Monday morning, followed by drywall, followed by countertops …. it’s feeling closer to useability, if not actual completion.
On with the Five:
- Envy
- Part II of The Outage
- Beauty is of soft whisperings, she speaks in our spirit.

Hope your weekend is lots and lots of fun. We’re hoping to try Honey Cafe on Saturday, as well as get down to Andersonville to check out all of the cool shops on Sunday. Reporting to follow ….
I’m planning to take next week off from blogging. My buddy is going for a mini golfing vacation with his grandparents, and I’m going to to be busy with kitchen stuff, I hope. If good things happen, I’ll be sure to pop in with pictures to update y’all.
See you back here for sure on Monday, July 7.

Wow. I am in love with Giambattista Valli’s resort collection. So, so pretty with great details. See the whole collection at style.com.

i just love that little snail!
I’ve been reading artist Flora Douville’s blog ever since Rachel at Black*Eiffel clued me in. I was immediately drawn to her watercolor animals alphabet series, admiring the perfection in color and spareness. Just yesterday, Flora announced that prints are available for purchase at Etsy. You can order any single print for $20, or a set of three for $50. I am waiting for my newly purchased escargot to arrive. It will proudly join the staircase wall art. I can’t wait.

You can read a short bio here. Thanks, Flora, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I look forward to seeing more ….. (and by the way, love this, too!)
Back tomorrow with the construction update and the Five. (They’re working today. Electrical fixes.)

I’ve been thinking about Mast Brothers Chocolate for a while now. Mostly from the sad point of view since it’s not available in Chicago, nor do they ship (yet?) Yesterday, SusyJack* reminded me of how much I want a few bars. I’d save the wrappers, of course …..
Can’t wait ’til the chocolaterie opens, guys! I’ll be checking your blog for news …. because when it does, and it’s cool enough to ship, I am all over this.
{Thanks to Liz Libre, too. I think you may have been one of the original “tipsters”.}
