and so it continues

I am so over winter. Really, I am so over snow. Our “one inch” forecast turned out to be closer to five, and we’re supposedly due for another eight tonight. The photo above shows our delightful Monday weather, which was thunderstorm on top of snow …. I’ve got a serious case of cabin fever, with no cure in sight.

Fashion news? Hah! More stuff that doesn’t inspire. So instead, I’m going to focus on some fun new stationery. I found storybymia through Marta (martawrites.blogspot.com), and fell in love with the simple and beautiful “love is” card at first sight. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, right?

I placed an order, (love cards and birthday cards, in case you were wondering) and it arrived on Monday, packaged so beautifully that I hated to rip it open. So to make it last, I photographed it first. The little bird on the tag is my favorite touch – isn’t it great? Thanks, Mia! I look forward to seeing what you come up with next!

Little items of note: Isaac Mizrahi’s website has relaunched. I like it. More fashion archives are featured, and I’m coveting the pencils that he lists as one of his favorites. I need to spend a little more time checking it all out.

Also, Jennifer Murphy has a Valentine’s Day site update today at noon!

See you tomorrow with the winner of Giveaway #4!

Starting off kind of slow

So far, I’ve been mostly underwhelmed by fall fashion week, save the photos above. (From left to right: Rachel Roy, Rachel Roy, Vera Wang Lavender Label) I’m hoping for good things from Sunday’s Lela Rose and Tracy Reese shows. One bright spot is the mustardy yellow color (as in the skirt, right). It seems to be popping up everywhere, and I absolutely love it with the blue!

The weekend? Well, it’s over. I read two books: How Starbucks Saved My Life (quick read), and Learning How to Die (good but repetitive). I’m working up to Atonement. Maybe I’ll see the movie first and cheat.

See you tomorrow!

Giveaway #4: Paper Goods Assortment

craft supplies | simple pretty

Hello! This week’s giveaway is a little this; a little that. The winner will get a set of unused Martha Stewart Crafts stickers, three sheets as pictured. (I bought it for the adorable snail.) Second gift is a green x-ingdesign notebook complete with pin. So cute! (If you visit her site, be sure to check out the samples – so much to adore.) And finally, because it seems that I have been stockpiling coasters for the parties I do not give, there is a set of 15 party topics coasters. These coasters feature party converation starters, for example “What fashion trend you followed was very cool then but now looks ridiculous?”

As ever, the rules are: post a comment (no anonymous) at this post by 11:59 pm Monday, February 4. I will draw one name, and post the winner in Wednesday’s blog entry. Good luck!

Follow up to Giveaway #3: last week’s winner, misadventuresofkellyandkelly, has yet to contact me for the Fresh lip shine! If I do not hear from her/(you?) by Monday, February 4 at 11:59 pm, I will draw a new winner from the eligible comments for Giveaway #3. I’ll let you all know either way on Wednesday.

Magazine gratitude (and sidetracked, too)

My buddy was home from school on Wednesday. No fever, he just was acting a little under the weather. (My first clue? I came back from walking the dog at 3:45 and found him asleep on the couch. That never happens.) So I kept him home, and let him rest. We played Connect Four and Guess Who? – both games are quick to play, and better yet, we are very evenly matched.

On with Thursday’s installment of Gratitude. I’m magazine obsessed, and one of my go-to’s is Domino. I love that they source nearly everything, and I also love their simple and elegant ideas. Take for instance the photo above. I love the idea of enlarging a print, and framing it. (Truth be told, I’m also a little crazy about the frame and the wall color. And the furniture.) I’m going to hit eBay in search of some cool botanicals to copy this look.

In the meantime, my next floral arrangement is definitely going to contain some silver brunia. Gorgeous. Grateful for these photos, and for Domino, too.

Until tomorrow, then. Sick days wear me out. Enjoy the last day of January.
